Contributing to the internet

Friday, October 13th, 2006 at about 11:00 pm

I work for a geek company and live in a home where the internet is a constant presence in every room, conversation and if asked ‘ if you were stuck on a desterted island’, most likely 80% of people I call friend and family will say can I bring my PDA/IBOOK, wifi enabled internet device.
Yet, on this Friday evening I sit in front of the TV with my laptop on my lap, I can find nothing interesting on the world wide web. Where has all the interesting, fun, stuff gone? Why does every site worth surfing filled with mind numbing crap.
hmmm
hmmm
hmm
15 minutes of more site surfing…I cannot find anything to do or surf but my mind and fingers won’t let me lgo off the machine. Addicted. Aliented. Is there an online Friday night pub anyone can give directions to?

the game must go on

Monday, July 3rd, 2006 at about 10:27 pm

I feel like a part of my life is in the last levels and the last part of a tetris game. The right piece just does’nt come or if it does show up, in my haste, I place it in the wrong place and mess it up even more.

Still I know the game is not over yet. and I don’t play to lose.

I hope you don’t either.

New things

Monday, July 3rd, 2006 at about 10:24 pm

This weekend I did two things I have never done before.

The first one was because someone beleived that I could do it and encouraged and pushed in the nicest way. Thanks coach!

The second one because someone said I couldn’t do it. and then I had to prove them wrong.

I think I like the first kind better:)

Win lose

It does’nt matter if you win. Because each time you win someone loses.
How can that feel good?

A cup of Coffee

Friday, February 24th, 2006 at about 5:02 pm

Technically this is not a blog entry since I did’nt write it myself.

But it had something that had to be shared :)

A group of alumni, highly established in their careers, got together to visit their old university lecturer. Conversation soon turned into complaints about stress in work and life. Offering his guests coffee, the lecturer went to the kitchen and returned with a large pot of coffee and an assortment of cups: porcelain, plastic, glass, some plain looking and some expensive andexquisite, telling them to help themselves to hot coffee.

When all the students had a cup of coffee in hand, the lecturer said:

“If you noticed, all the nice looking, expensive cups were taken up,leaving behind the plain and cheap ones. While it is but normal for you to want only the best for yourselves, that is the source of your problems and stress. What all of you really wanted was coffee, not the cup, but you consciously went for the better cups and are eyeing each other’s cups.”

“Now, if Life is coffee, then the jobs, money and position in society are the cups. They are just tools to hold and contain Life, but the quality of Life doesn’t change.” “Sometimes, by concentrating only on the cup, we fail to enjoy the coffee in it.”

So folks, don’t let the cups drive you…enjoy the coffee instead.
