Kaaku’s blog

Honesty is not my virtue

Friday, December 30th, 2005 at about 2:29 pm

I remember how I started this blog. With the honest intention of being an honest blogger.
I never doubted I was anything but truthful in life and how easiliy that would translate in to writing.

But honesty is not my virtue.

I wish I could tell exactly how this year went without making silly shoe and car analogies about different events.

I want to talk about the days this year when I was dizzy with happiness and about the times I honestly thought I would die young.

About how ecstatic I felt when on my first ski trip, I went the whole 14 KM or something and heard a famous Norwegian singer sing on the ski stop.

How on a business trip this sumer, not knowing what was wrong with me, I wrote down my name and my phone number so I would remember who I was in the morning. I remembered little on waking up and I missed my plane.

How confident I can appear on occasion, and at the same time sitting alone in a resturant to have my meal alone, made me so shy, I went without eating.

How I promised I wouldn’t cry at my sister’s wedding and then I was the only one who did.

How so many evenings were spent eating at hurry curry and singing kareoke until it was time to sleep.

How I made so many new friends and how I should have been a better friend. About all the things I did that I regret now and all the thing that I am proud of achieving.

But all in all. It was a happy year, this year.

I doubt if I will maintain this blog much longer.

I can’t speak the truth truthfully and what’s the point of writing if I can’t write from the heart?:)

( Besides, I want to not feel guilty next year for not keeping up;)

Adios and best wishes for 2006

I like old men

Sunday, October 16th, 2005 at about 10:46 pm

Kristian asked me if I wanted to raise money for Pakistan and I made my my mouth in to a big o - something like this :-O
What did we do to explain things before smileys?

But anyway, back to the story on why I like old men.

Ahem.

I always think of myself as a giving person and I sympathize when I see an earthquake on TV. But I don’t think I have ever gone out of my way to donate money for something like it. So much for being giving!

This time howevever Kristian convinced me to join him in collecting money ourside Ulleval Stadion for RedKross.

We stood at gate number 17 with our Red Kross overall and a plastic red can. At first I was shy and would’nt look at the Tromso people who came all the way to see the match in the eye - but slowly I got in to the role .

I know that seeing us standing there reminding these football fans of earthquakes - at a place where they go to relax and have fun, probably made them feel a little guilty and slightly annoyed.

But well, all for a good cause I guess:) These are my observations :
Young women never give money. Infact they don’t even notice you! Not a single one donated.
Old women look cynical and walk away with a shrug.
Young men smile and flirt and sometimes even give a little.
Small children gave money out of their snack money at half time and smiled real bright when I said Takk!

But its the old men who showed the most kindness and charity!

I don’t know if they have the most money to give, or the type of people who fall for the puppy eyed look:)

But they do make you feel good about what you do on a Sunday evening.

:)
So here’s a blog ‘toast’ to them and to Tromso for winning the match!

‘Skol’!

The world revolves around me

Thursday, April 14th, 2005 at about 9:49 am

Some people in my family and circle of close friends actually believe that the world does not revolve around me but around some ball of fire.

I do not understand.

My baby’s name

Wednesday, December 1st, 2004 at about 10:52 am

It isn’t like I am having or just had a baby or anything, but it sure feels like I just did. :)

You see, in my life, I have killed many many plants.

I like them alright and although not in the habit of buying them, I do get them from time to time from considerate friends.

I invariably forget to water them and they die. (A whole lot they know!)

Anyways, when I moved in to my new apartment last month, I went to Ikea with Daniel to buy new apartment stuff and among other things, I bought a Jasmine plant because it reminded me of home.

This time I took care of it.

My plant had a flower on it this morning. A beautiful, fresh scented lovely little flower….

In its honor, if ever I have a baby girl, I am going to name it Jasmine.

I mean name her… :-)
